out with the old, in with the new

It was a tough day yesterday. Hard to give up the Sequoia with all of its SPACE!!!! Plus I thought it was good looking. BUT, the gas price to fill it was insane!!!

So now, I have this new car the Acura MDX. Let me just say, it is AWESOME! Too many perks to get into. They all come fully loaded & you can choose from 3 packages: Sport, Technology, and Entertainment. I happened to find one with TWO options: Technology/Entertainment pkg. I have no clue how I luckily stumbled on this one. And it's the color I was looking for in a new car. Score!

There are a lot of things that I am going to have to learn about it. A couple of highlights: navigation system(won't need but fun to look at), back-up camera, dvd from ceiling with remote and cordless headphones, the backrow people can control the radio (if i press a button that allows them), heated seats (even in 2nd row), memory driver's seat, handsfree link, moonroof, custom: interior/exterior lighting control, sound control, climate control.... the car is frickin off the charts.

I could go on, but the baby needs me. Maybe I should take him for a ride. :)

mother's day

We all went out to dinner. Yes, we took up the whole restaurant. It was great!

My mom, dad, Mikey, Cade, Jan, Walter, Katie, Megan, Gary, Ron, Steve, Carrie, Kevin, Leah, Dennis, Linda all came out to visit my grandma on mother's day!

Yay!! Back to work! I picked a great day to come back! It's Literacy Day; early release!

All I have to do is watch them read an then teach a high school gym class.

I'm going to try it again.

Tomorrow we are going to the gym, hopefully, my knee won't fail me once again. I feel like absolute crap. I ate absolute crap today. It was so gross out, that I wouldn't even go to the grocery store to buy some food. Instead, I just ate junk & drank water all day.

The little guy has been asleep for about 30 min. Let's hope for another good night like the last 2. Let's also hope that my double chin & thunder thighs go away.

Hopefully soon I'll be able to call them Thinder Thighs.

Mom's Farmhouse

My mom grew up with 10 siblings. Yes, her parents had 11 kids! They lived in a lot of different houses, but one of them will always stand out to me. The Farmhouse on 44. It TOTALLY looks haunted. When we first moved here, it didn't look run down, but it's been 17 years, and it looks pretty crappy. They lived there for 10 years in the 60's-70's.

I'm so fascinated by this house. Not sure why, maybe because it has to have sooo much history. So many stories from the families who lived in it. A couple of years ago, my aunts & cousin broke into it and took some pictures. I have never seen the pictures. And it would have been nice to see it then.

There has been a dumpster out in front of it for awhile. So we think they are tearing it down or fixing it up. My mom, my aunt, Caden, and I drove over there one day last month to check it out. My mom wanted to show me the inside so badly, so I can see the cool house & the awesome staircase.



I don't know why, but I should have tried to see what was inside the dumpster.



There were a bunch of signs saying No Trespassing. Apparently, we didn't see them.

The house is owned by the city of Akron, because it's by the lake. They bought a ton of property by the water.



yuck. I was SOOOO scared to go up to the door, bc i REALLY REALLY thought the place was haunted.

I got to the door and OMG! The inside was GUTTED! There were no floors, no dividing walls. Nothing. Just piles of wood. My mom is gonna freak. She immediately walked to the back. Then I heard her go through a door and just sigh, "omg!!!! NOOOOOO!"

There were so many memories going through my mom's head. I could feel her pain. She wanted to go to certain rooms to reminisce, but those rooms weren't there. It was so sad & depressing. I wanted to cry & I have never been in there, I have no memories of it, but I still felt sad.

There are 5 barns on the property. (i think).



We walked over to them. Some of them you could see into, some were boarded up shut. There were also a bunch of Honeybees!



Either way, they were creepy!!!



We may or may not have taken some mementos with us. Some things that could have been my grandma's.



I ALWAYS think of Dorothy when I see these. And yes. I opened it and looked down there. It was freaky.

My mom said she said some Habitat for Humanity papers on the ground. Who knows how long they were there or what that even means. Are they using the wood for it? Are they fixing the place up for HFH? What? But if they were, why would they take ALL of the floors out so you can see all the way up to the roof? We are thinking they are just bulldozing it. But then why would they take the time to take all of the floors out? UGH! I want answers! And I want them NOW!!!!

I can tell you one thing about me...

I am NOT the best gift wrapper there is. In fact, I may be up there with the worst of them. This was my finished product from yesterday. It started out rather bumpy though.


I was wrapping the box with the beer mugs. I thought I had it all measured out nicely, and then cut the paper. When I went back to folding it, I realized that it didn't cover the box entirely. So, I did what any AWESOME wrapper would do, I just rotated the paper {obviously NOT what a good wrapper would do}. Eh, that's good enough. Then I had to cut an extra strip to cover the missing piece. As I was taping that part down, Jimmy walked in. Crap. He just stood there with Caden laughing at me.

"Don't let your mom teach you how to wrap up a present."

HA! The people don't care what the wrapping looks like. They just want the damn gift.

Yay! we're out!

We went out to dinner with Erin, Scott & Whitney to B Spot last night. It was delicious as usual. Afterwards, we went to Jenny's the new ice cream place in town. Lots of laughs.

Caden got to come along for the ride. He was sooooo good in the restaurant. Prolly bc it was loud in there & he likes noise. Either way, I hope he stays this well behaved. I know, I know. That's doubtful. But we can all wish, can't we?

I can't wait for this summer, we are going to have so much fun!!!

Jimmy was feeding Caden a bottle, and called me out to the room, "OMG! Get in here, he is doing the shocker! Get a picture."

I don't know whether to laugh & post the picture or to be offended. HA! I gotta post it. That is about how mature I am. Not....at all. Disgusting. Just disgusting. haha

BIG bump in the road

So apparently, I'm never supposed to get into shape. I finally got some rest from noon to 1 today and then went to the gym. Yesterday, Jimmy & I ran 2 miles & I felt AWESOME afterward. Today, well that's a different story. I blew out my knee on the friggin leg curl machine. REALLY?!?!?!?!!! I wasn't even working out hard....AT ALL.

Someone up there has a funny sense of humor! Why can't anything just go smoothly for me once? So here I am icing my knee when I SHOULD be working out or cleaning up my house.

I apologize to the peeps coming over this weekend. I am not cleaning my house. Don't take it personally. I have a one month old & a headache. It's just not in the cards.
